'Halo: Combat Evolved' (Bungee / Xbox)

Released in 2001, 'Halo' was not only the game that launched the Xbox but also the game that brought console shooters up to speed.

Nothing since 'GoldenEye' on the N64 had achieved what Halo managed and due to this the new shooter's fame became immense, spawning novels, sequels, spin offs and that endless rumour of a film adaptation. Halo became the benchmark for console FPS.
