'Far Cry' (Crytek / PC)

Released in 2004 by German game designers Cytek, this title took what had become a rather dull PC genre and added their unique touch.

'Far Cry' emphasised the story but presented you with a much less linear style of play than its predecessors, giving you an entire island to explore freely and challenges that could be solved in various ways depending upon your style of play. Plus you got to change into a werewolf - sort of.
