By the release of this console, Mario was more than the Italian-American plumber first seen alongside Donkey Kong. He has become a legend in his own right.

So what better man to stand at the forefront of Nintendo's sale offensive for the (then) new machine? And it was a good call, with the 'Super Mario World' becoming one of the most played, highest acclaimed video games ever coded.
