Gary Barlow and his wife Dawn have announced that their fourth child was delivered stillborn last Saturday. The devastated couple is now planning a ‘beautiful funeral’ for their daughter, who they had planned to name ‘Poppy’.
In a statement, Gary said: “Poppy Barlow was delivered stillborn on August 4th in London. Our focus now is giving her a beautiful funeral and loving our three children with all our hearts. We’d ask at this painful time that our privacy be respected.”
In February of this year, Gary announced the pregnancy through his Twitter page: “My wife and I are expecting our 4th child #Anotherowngoal.”
The couple, who has been married for 12 years, then shared their excitement at expecting another girl in April. Unfortunately, eight and a half month into the pregnancy, Dawn went into labor and gave birth, only to find that the baby was stillborn.
Gary and Dawn are said to be ‘in pieces’ following the incident. They are comforted by their three children, Daniel, 11, Emily, 9, and Daisy, 3.
Gary is set to make a public appearance at the closing ceremony of the Olympics this Sunday. It is unclear at the moment if his performance will still go ahead.
