What is the maximum attachment size I can send or receive with Supanet email?

Supanet has recently increased the maximum attachment size you can send and receive.

The maximum file size you can receive has been increased to 5MB.

There is no specific size limit for sending files. However, we do impose a 50MB ceiling when sending.

For example, 2MB to a total of 25 recipients or 10MB to a total of 5 recipients. The total amount of data sent can never exceed 50MB.

However, in practice, any attachment over 3-3.5MB could cause problems for your mail handler which could time out before the attachment has been sent.

In the unlikely event that you still find the limits insufficient, we suggest you compress the file with a utility like WinZip or UltimateZip or send as separate files if possible.

This message is simply virus spam, we would recommend deleting the message without opening it and if you receive any more simply delete them straightaway.

No " If the message does not contain any attachments and is a genuine mail from us, it will recommend in the email that you run an up to date virus scan of your system.

Simply follow these instructions and ensure that you system if virus free and you should stop receiving notifications from us.

Why an I getting an 'Internal Server Error' when sending email?

Internal server errors normally occur when the webserver takes longer than expected when communicating with the user's computer. There are various reasons why the errors happen.

Most commonly, it could be due to the large amount of email in your webmail inbox, making it time-consuming to process each email when you choose to view them.

In this case, we recommend you use an email client like Microsoft Outlook supplied with your PC or Microsoft Outlook supplied with Microsoft Office. A client like this works differently to webmail because it downloads email to your PC, unlike webmail, which has to read through each email everytime you log in.

If you need assistance with Outlook Express click here.

The error could also be down to any message rules you have created, for example, if you have selected to block a number of email addresses.

If you have 50 message rules, the webmail application has to process through each of these rules for each email it downloads into the inbox. This happens every time you log in.

The error could actually be a combination of both of these factors, so our advice would be to limit the number of emails held within webmail and to consider if all the message rules you have created are really necessary.
