The Coronation Street star and her husband have welcomed their first child.

On revealing her pregnancy, the star, who plays Maria Sutherland in the ITV soap, said: "I have been pregnant on screen for the best part of the past two years and as soon as I get rid of the fake baby bump I will have a real one. I am so pleased that we were able to tell my dad about the baby before he died."

The actress tragically lost her father, Joseph Ghadie, to cancer in April. Samia married her husband in 2005 after a two year romance. The new arrival Freya, weighed in at 7lbs 2oz (3.2kg).
