Long wavy hair leaves men breathless

Men prefer women with long wavy hairstyles according to a new poll.

The sexy feminine look, as seen on actresses Julia Roberts and Brit stars Cheryl Cole and Kelly Brook came top of the survey with 43% of male voters saying it was their favourite style.

Long straight hair, like Jennifer Aniston's, came second followed by the classic short bob, popularised by Bajan popstar Rihanna.

Straight mid-length styles, similar came fourth while the pixie crop, famously sported by Victoria Beckham made the top five.

Karen Moore, of TRESemme Philips hair appliances, told the Daily Mail: "Hair is such a defining part of a woman's appearance.

"Long hair is traditionally strongly linked to femininity which we're sure is the reason that almost half of men have singled out this long, thick, wavy hair as their number one sexiest style.

"It's interesting to see that men still favour the traditional stereotypical looks for women, with long hair coming out on top despite the massive popularity of shorter styles like 'the Pob' and Agyness Deyn style crops with women."

8. Beehive - 4% (Brigitte Bardot)

9. Mid-length waved/curled - 3% (Halle Berry)

Surprisingly men also prefer women with natural hair rather then overly styled. More than a third of them said they hate it when a woman's hair is perfectly styled.

72% of the male voters said that shiny hair is an attractive quality in a woman and half said that they prefer a woman's hair let down as opposed to being tied up.
