Protect your hair during winter
The dry and cold winter can be very damaging to your hair. The drop in temperature and increased use of central heating causes it to dry out far more easily.
But there are ways to protect your luscious locks. Here are the seven secrets to keeping your hair healthy this season.
1. Lock in hair moisture
If you can grin and bare it, run your hair through cold water after conditioning. This will also give your hair an extra shine.
2. Limit your use of curling irons
Blow dryers and curling irons can harm dehydrated hair, leading to further damage. Keep your use of these styling appliances to a minimum. Use a serum before applying any heat for extra protection.
3. Treat yourself

4. Hold on to your (cashmere) hat
Invest in a hat made of cashmere rather than wool. Wool is very absorbent and will suck the moisture out of your hair, leaving it dry and prone to static. Cashmere will ensure that it stays looking beautifully smooth and silky when you come in from the cold.
5. Replace lost moisture
Just like your skin, your hair needs more moisture in winter, so make sure you look after it properly and invest in a good shampoo and conditioner.
Preventing lost moisture will help you avoid frizz and static. Use a hydrating hairspray which will help to replace the moisture lost during styling, and hydrate the hair to give a soft, supple feel.
6. Make sure it's dry
Relax, take it easy

Don't go outside with your hair wet. If it's cold enough outside, your hair will freeze and may break.
7. Regular grooming
Dryness starts from the ends of your hair. If you normally get your hair cut every 10 weeks, get it cut in eight weeks instead.
