Will our long-distance relationship last?
I live in London and my boyfriend lives in Manchester. We have been together for just over a year now and have been making the effort to see each other every two weeks during this time.
When we are together our relationship is fantastic - we talk and laugh all the time about everything. We get along so well and there are no problems. But as soon as we are apart he becomes moody and says he needs some space for a few days. I always get worried that he might try to break up with me (he did once before) but he says his mood swings are not about me and that when he has one, I should just leave him alone. But I feel so lonely when were apart that I try to compensate for the distance by talking to him whenever I can! It always makes me feel that our relationship is unstable!
Why is he so moody the second I leave? What am I doing wrong? And if we have a future, will I be able to live with these mood swings?
What you must remember is that man is descended from caveman and when you disappear he returns to his cave to brood and contemplate.
While he is brooding and contemplating, he will be thinking about all the things he has not been able to devote his time and energies to while youve been around, such as:
- Who should play on the left side of Englands midfield?
- Is it warm enough to start drinking lager instead of bitter?
- Should he invest in a new car or a new PC?
- Should he have a takeaway pizza or a takeaway curry for tea?
Believe me, these are major concerns for the man of today and when you phone up saying how much you miss him and tell him about all the girly things you have been doing in the capital he will be less than impressed and will start to demand space.
However, if you were to phone up and say that you think Paul Scholes is the best option for the left side of Englands midfield, he may not agree with you - but he wouldnt go in a mood either!
