Non stick pans
The chemical PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic acid) which is used to make non-stick pans heat resistant and stain repellent has been linked to thyroid disease by a University of Exeter study of 4,000 people. The study is in need of further research for a direct link to be established, however. PFOA is also present in some furniture and food packaging.
