New research has revealed that women buy 469 pair of shoes in their life time, typically purchasing seven a year at £34.99 each, and totalling £16,410.

According to the study, by Gocompare.com, most ladies get their first pair aged 14, then continue to buy their beloved footwear for 67 years.

Each women typically own six summer pairs, including sandals, flip flops, pumps and wedges; three heels for formal and special occasions; three warm winter boots, two pairs of sensible work shoes; and four sets of foxy footwear for nights out. Many also own two pairs of random impulse buys.
