Most chrysanthemum blooms on a single stem
To Koreans, chrysanthemums stand for honesty, chastity, purity and noble-mindedness, and remain a favourite.
Masan City in South Gyeongsang Province became the first in Korea to commercially cultivate chrysanthemums back in 1960, and to celebrate the ninth Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival, the city worked to cultivate the most chrysanthemum blooms on a single stem.
Lead by Mr. Jeon Jeong-su and 300 assistants from the Agricultural Technology Center of Masan City, they broke the record with an impressive 1,315 flowers from the one stem. It took a total of 16 months to fully grow the flower stem, which has a diameter of 2.8m, is 2.4m in height and the weighs a total of 300kg.
