Worst for recycling
Britain is the best at being the worst! The United Kingdom has topped another poll of shame. The Local Government Association (LGA) has revealed figures that show Britain to be the worst recyclers in Europe.
The UK puts more than 27million tonnes of waste in landfills each year, 7million tonnes more than any other country. Landfills in Britain now take up 109 square miles, an area the size of the Warwick.
Germany buries three times less waste in landfills than Britain but has a population of 20 million more people. The LGA is warning that landfill space could run out in 2016.
