Lewes, a sleepy town in East Sussex, has launched its own exclusive currency in an attempt to boost the area's economy.

The initiative hoped to drive customers to shop locally instead of opting for the monopoly of supermarkets.

The notes will not feature the Queen's head or be able to be used out of the area making them especially distinctive.
