How do I care for lilacs?
I have just bought three lilac trees and I would be most grateful if you could advise me on how and when to prune them, they are three years old Syringa meyeri palabin, They are a present to my partner for all she has done for me and I would hate for them to fade on her.
Dead head and prune, only if necessary, after flowering. Prune only to remove excess or unwanted growth. If you overdo it you will get a lot of young growth with no flowers. However dont worry - lilacs are pretty tough and should flower for years to come.Search the web
