I have relaid my lawn twice
I have relaid my lawn twice with quality turf to try and achieve the perfect football pitch quality. I get one good summer and although I feed often, scarify and aerate the grass it still starts to struggle and is not as lush as first laid. Do I have the wrong soil type or balance? The lawn is still 100% weed free but has a brown tinge to the ends of the swords
You know what they say in Weightwatchers. If you do what you always did, youll get what you always got! This is also true of re-turfing lawns. You have to alter the soil. The easiest way to do this is to overlay the original soil with guaranteed top soil from a garden suppliers. You only need about 2inches depth, grass roots being very shallow, so it would not be wildly expensive. I dont think you really mean football pitch quality as that is rye grass; tough but not very attractive. Go for good lawn seed.
