I would love to grow grapes for the table
I have a small (6x8) greenhouse and would love to grow grapes for the table. The family prefers green to purple. What would you recommend? I live in West Yorkshire so I don't think trying a vine outside would be an option.
The choice is up to you. Both kinds are equally easy to grow. However I would recommend that you choose seedless and take advice from your nearest garden centre regarding the variety. Did you know that if your greenhouse is fairly small you could actually grow the root outside and lead the plant into the greenhouse via a 5-6 inch length of plastic piping? Apart from maximising space it solves the problem of watering while you are away. It will take three to four years to mature and in the first year its best to nip off the tiny grapes to promote growth. Then comes the wine tasting!
