My soil is very thick and clay like
We are about to move into a new home, however the soil is very thick and clay like. Is there any way I can make it more manageable before we start laying a lawn or planting anything, or will it always be like this?
For the lawn section add plenty of grit for drainage, the quantity depending on how wet and clayey the soil is. Grass, like roses, is perfectly happy with clay but does need to be well drained to avoid problems with moss and fungi. The cultivated areas will benefit from the addition of grit humus and peat. Best of luck with your new garden.
