Genuine ghost towns
5. Oradour-Sur-Glane (France)
This is a true WWII ghost town. The small village's 642 citizens were massacred by German soldiers as punishment for the French Resistance, despite the fact the Nazis had intended to target the nearby Oradour-sur-Vayres instead.
The town was then destroyed following the executions. Today it stands as a memorial to the dead and as a tragic reminder, cluttered with rusted cars, furniture and personal belongings.
