How your unwanted items can make a masterpiece

According to new research, Brits are getting better at recycling.
The vast majority of households recycle items such as paper (89%), glass bottles and jars (84%).
However, less than a third of us say we are recycling less common items such as electronic equipment, from microwaves to televisions and anything in between. And essentially anything with batteries or a plug can be reused in some way, meaning less rubbish in our landfills.
To help show exactly what items can be recycled, a number of local authorities around the country are raising awareness of the broad range of materials we can all recycle.
Using recyclable materials, that typically turn up in landfill sites, celebrated sculptor Stuart Murdoch has created iconic pieces for sites around the country, including Canterbury, Southampton, Bristol, Plymouth, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Sunderland and Norwich.
Whether you consider yourself extremely green, or simply have a creative streak that you feel can be put to better use, watch this video featuring the esteemed artist to see what you could do.
Stuart Murdoch himself and Laura Underwood from Recycle Now quickly take you through the ins and out of recycling your waste and creating a masterpiece in the process:
