A new device is offering parents peace of mind about their child's whereabouts. Ideal for older children or when the younger kids want to go farther afield, the num8 watch is a revolutionary system featuring a satellite positioning device that can locate the wearer to within 10ft.

Parents can see the wearer’s location on Google Maps through the associated website or texting "where r u" to a special number. In addition, safe zones can be set up, in which children can play before alerting parents if they do stray outside these parameters. The num8 GPS tracking device can be securely fitted to the child’s wrist, triggering an alert if forcibly removed. 

According to the makers, the num8 provides the right balance between the child’s independence and peace of mind for parents, saying: “The overriding aim of num8 is to give children their freedom and parents peace of mind”.
