The 10 most useless celeb-inspired health treatments
5. Macrobiotic diet (£83)
A macrobiotic diet, named from the Greek 'macro' (large, long) and 'bios' (life), was developed in the 1920s by a Japanese philosopher called George Ohsawa. He believed that by eating a simple, healthy diet, we could live in harmony with nature.
There are different levels of strictness of the diet; however, the general principle is about a different approach to life as well as cutting meat and processed foods in your diet (unlike in veganism, seafood is allowed).
Alicia Silverstone, Pamela Anderson, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow are all said to have followed the diet regime.
