Whitby, North Yorkshire
A sandy and rocky beach backed by cliffs, Whitby was the home of Captain James Cook and has welcomed visitors to its sandy shore for hundreds of years.
It is usually favoured by the younger generation, however it is steeped in history - much of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' is set around the area. Be sure to walk to the magnificent Whitby Abbey.
