2. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling
Perhaps it was the over-exaggerated hype surrounding the forth Potter book (such as Rowling's promise that one character would be murdered) that was its undoing, but by the time that it did come out and everyone bought it readers seemed to feel a universal comedown to all of the PR campaigns and gave up half way through.
