The Economist has released their list of the greenest holiday destinations, calculated via the Environmental Performance Index - environmental health levels, biodiversity, air pollution, water use, agricultural methods and tackling climate change have all been taken into account. Facts and figures aside, their selections are also stunningly beautiful.

It may be some surprise that the bustling country of France edged into the list, but it isn't all cities and tourist traps - France is becoming infamous for its camping hotspots thanks to the advent of luxury 'glamping' resorts.
