Britain gets a windy battering
Britain's worst storm in 20 years ravaged the nation in March 2008, armed with 90mph winds from the Atlantic and a heavy helping of torrential rain and hail.
Reported as the worst storm to hit the UK since 1987, the Met Office predicted that the record low pressure combined with high spring tides would wreak havoc over England and Wales.
A spokesman for Cornwall and Devon police said: "The emergency services are advising members of the public not to travel unless it is utterly necessary."
