Historical science expert Dr Anne-Marie Kramer has warned people to beware of the potential consequences when researching their family tree.
Digging up the past can cause rifts between living relatives and destroy idealised notions about the family history, she cautions.
But while modern day Britain's antics could be called questionable, they're little to the binge-drinking, porn, drugs and prostitution pastimes of old.
