Football ownership: Who’s running your team?
The Liverpool saga
Liverpool have been embroiled in a furious and passionate debate over the last few weeks over their current and future ownership.
Tom Hicks and George Gillet, who bought the club in 2007, were in some considerable financial turmoil after being ordered to pay back their £237million loan to Royal Bank of Scotland.
The club was given until 15 October to make the sale or face administration and a deduction of nine points.
Now, with John Henry taking his place as the club's new owner, the situation has been somewhat resolved. The takeover by Henry's New England Sports Ventures has eliminated the acquisition debt placed on the club by Hicks and Gillet, but Liverpool still face the problem of their recent poor form.
As the absurd situation is finally resolved, we take a look at the owners of the other 19 Premiership clubs and how they have helped or floundered their clubs' financial situation.
