10 of the greatest ever screen car chases
Death Proof (2007)
Quentin Tarantino plays the ultimate homage to 1970s chase film cinema in 'Death Proof'. While very little happens in the actual film, the centrepiece is the chase towards the end that goes on for over 10 minutes, expertly bringing back the muscle cars that have been lacking in modern cinema.
Kurt Russell's macho Stuntman Mike preys upon three girls, one of which is tied to the bonnet of their car. It's ever so slightly erotic in its view of cars and women… but that's never stopped chase movies before. You can catch the highlights (but be warned there's plenty of swearing amid the tyre-screeching) here
