The history of Ferrari
Ferrari 458 Italia
Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson described the car as "one of the all-time greats" after it zoomed round the show's test track only 0.1 seconds slower than Ferrari's prestigious Enzo model. The 560bhp machine was introduced this year and does 0-60 in 3.35 sec, but its high speed and price tag (£170,000) brought to a grinding halt by an automotive jinx - they have a tendency to catch fire.
In less than three months, 10 of the Italian supercars have either crashed or caught fire. Ferrari have recognised that there is an issue with the sports cars bursting into flames and are investigating what could be a striking coincidence or a major, and potentially, problem for the company.
While that blows over, take a brief trip into the great car manufacturer's past...
