My internet date seems to have gone off me

I would like your advice about a women I have met on a dating site.

We have being corrosponding for about four months now and we met for the first time last week. The date went very well with positive signs.

My problem is I would luv to see her again. I asked her out on a lunch date, but she said she had other commitments which I understand but she seems to have gone cold on me.

I'm a bit scared of asking her on another date in case I might seem to be a bit pushy. Should I back off and see if she makes contact again with me?

The whole internet dating thing can be a lot of fun and extremely nerve-racking at the same time. Online relationships can get intense fairly quickly as the online medium often makes us less inhibited as we don't really know the people we talk to and that's why we feel we can open up to them easily.

It's almost like we say to ourselves that this person is OK because they don't know me, and they have no preconceived notions about my physical traits and past.

Online relationships often change after the first meeting because that 'anonymity' is no longer there and the human chemistry that has been missing until you actually meet for real will inevitably kick.

I know this may sound harsh but I think this woman liked you but not to the extent where she fancied you. I think she tried to break it to you gently rather than rejecting you out right when she said she had other commitments after you asked her for a second date.

Back off for a bit and give her space, then in a few weeks ask her out for a drink or lunch again. If she still refuses and you think the online friendship is too awkward to maintain, drop her and put the whole thing down to experience.

As we girls say: Before you meet the handsome prince, you have to kiss a load of toads.

The same goes for online dating. Don't let one negative experience put you off. Good Luck!
