What starts off as a surprisingly solid war thriller suddenly becomes a fight against survival when a mysterious alien starts hunting down a team of commandos one by one...
By the end, it's just one man (Arnold Schwarzenegger in one of his finest roles) pitted against the ruthless beast. For once, it considers how both sides think and operate in the same unforgiving setting, thereby creating suspense out of tactics, not cheap thrills.
