The greatest fake bands in music history
The Partridge Family
Coming from the same media machine (Screen Gems) as The Monkees, The Partridge Family were a different animal. If The Monkees were seen as a 60s counter-culture pop group inspired by The Beatles, The Partridge Family resembled the wholesome goodness of apple pie America in the 1970s.
The TV show revolved around a family, fronted by a widowed mother who embark on a musical career. Their biggest hit came in 1970 with 'I Think I Love You' but after David Cassidy (who played eldest son Keith Partridge) quit the show and went solo, the family unit trailed into obscurity. But with over 10 albums to their name, they were briefly at the top of their (fictional) game.
