10. White Center (Yellow, Pink and Lavender on Rose) by Mark Rothko (£45m)
Fetching a colourful £45,954,756 ($72,840,000) in New York in 2007, this Rothko trebled the previous highest price for one of his works, in doing so setting the record for the most expensive post-war paintings sold at auction.
