It was German men who received the most criticism however. Women voted them into the acrimonious first position thanks to their apparent body odour, rating males from Germany as "too smelly". Maybe it's all that bratwurst!

Greek men were slightly better at No 6 for being "too lovey-dovey". Turkey was also in the top 10, in ninth for being "too sweaty", and Russian men were voted into tenth because of their excess hair – perhaps this how they survive the bitterly cold winters.

There were however some countries where the men knew how to please a woman...
