'The Getaway' (1972)
Steve McQueen stars as the brutally cold bank robber Doc McCoy in Sam Peckinpah's violent classic that depicts road trip across America shared by two criminal lovers. They may not be the most successful but they're up there with the coolest.
McCoy's lust interest is played by Ali MacGraw – the sexual tension simmering as they were actually embarking on an affair on-set at the time. If that wasn't enough, Peckinpah's trademark slow motion shoot-outs captures every blunt detail of their well-thought out but flawed plan.
