Michael Buble was scheduled to lace up his skates and hit the ice on Thursday to play with Vancouver Canucks against UBC Thunderbirds all in the name of charity. However, the Grammy winner decided to sit it out.
According to Vancouver Sun, the singer wanted to join the game but just didn’t have the nerves to do so.
He told them: “Honestly I wanted to play but I think I wimped out a bit. Nerves got the best of me. But I'm glad I didn't (play). It was fast, even faster than a lot of the boys actually thought it would be. If this was my only chance to watch NHL hockey this year, I surely didn't want to mess it up.”
Buble added: “It was very generous of Kevin to take the time to do this because he loves the community and it meant a lot to him. It was very generous of all those players and the five-and-a half-thousand fans to spend their hard-earned money to support all the great causes they did. I'm really lucky to be in the position to do something.”
The star, however, reportedly made it up to fans by donating $100,000 to The Canucks Autism Network, Canucks Family Education Centre, and the Canuck Place hospice.
