Barbara Windsor is thrilled to be making a triumphant return to Albert Square now that she has recovered from the glandular fever-like virus known as Epstein-Barr.
Babs will renew her much-loved role as Peggy Mitchell and will even have her boys in tow - Phil and Grant, the hard nut Mitchell brothers.
The Carry On star said that she feels like "the new girl" again on the EastEnders set.
"The Mitchell family being reunited is the cherry on the cake," she said in an OK magazine interview.
Soap's toughest family has been a shadow of its former self ever since the three lynchpins of Walford high drama left the show and only Sam and Billy have held the Mitchell fort in their absence.
But with Sam about to get framed for Dirty Den's murder, the Mitchell clan needs to rally round and it has been reported that Peggy will push Chrissie, the real murderess, into Den's grave as vengeance.
