Ronan Keating recently opened up about his new ‘single life’ as he tries to cope with his separation from his wife of 14 years.
Earlier this year, the popstar’s wife Yvonne discovered his affair with a dancer named Francine Cornell. He went back to his wife after the incident and tried to save their marriage, but they eventually split up. He said that he and Yvonne had ‘drifted apart’ and that their marriage ‘wasn’t working anymore’.
He admitted that after the split, he started drinking heavily and became depressed. “I see myself as a failure. It’s been devastating for the children.”
His kids, Jack, 13, Marie, 11, and Ali, 6, are living with their mother, but Keating has a pad nearby to be close to them. He also said that despite the negative way their marriage ended, he and Yvonne share a ‘100 per cent friendship’ but that they just ‘don’t have the closeness’ they used to have.
After experiencing life as a free-spirited single man, Ronan realizes that he ‘didn’t want’ this kind of life. “I liked being in a relationship.”
Meanwhile, his ex-lover Francine, 26, has reportedly left the UK to start over. A friend of Francine’s says that the dancer’s ‘feelings for Ronan are still incredibly strong’ and that being in a new surrounding ‘will give her the chance to start again’.
