The popular singer, who has sits such as ‘She Wolf’ and ‘Hips Don’t Lie’, made the announced through her official website, writing: “As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!”
She has held off from the iHeartRadio Music Festival this weekend to allow them to focus on this special time in their lives. Shakira added: “At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days. This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival…”
It is understood that Shakira met Pique in 2010 when he was one of the football players featured in the music video for her song ‘Waka Waka’ (This Time for Africa), which was used as the South Africa World Cup theme song.

The baby news comes after it was announced that, according to some reports, Shakira and Usher would be taking the places of Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green on TV talent show ‘The Voice’ USA for one season.
