Sir Jimmy Savile was able to raise up to £1 million for charity even after his death as some of his trademark possessions were auctioned off.
His loyal fans bought the clothes, treasures, and even cars that once belonged to the famed DJ and TV host, who passed away last year at age 84.
Care home boss Angela Swift, 41, bought Sir Jim’s BMW bubble car for £22,000. She said she hopes the iconic car will give residents ‘nostalgic memories’.
Another one of Sir Jim’s cars, his Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible, also sold at £130,000, which was £70,000 more than the initial estimate.
Stuart Levin also acquired Sir Jim’s golden tracksuit for £550. Sir Jimmy can be fondly remembered wearing the said suit on his charity runs.
His red chair from the hit 70s show Jim’ll Fix It also sold for £8,500 while his Savile box of Daz brought in £220.
All proceeds from the auction will go to the Sir Jimmy Savile Charitable Trust. Aside from these recently acquired proceeds, it emerged earlier this year that Sir Jim left most of his £4.3 million fortune to charity following his death. He simply left some sentimental memoirs as well as a £600,000 trust fund to some of his relatives.
