The London 2012 Closing Ceremony provided a closure not only for the 2012 Olympic Games but also for pop stars Spice Girls and their former foe Liam Gallagher.
Happy snaps of the five girls hugging each other during their highly anticipated reunion circulated on Twitter as the girls themselves tweeted about their excitement at having performed together once again.
Posh Spice Victoria tweeted: “We did it!! I love u girls so much!!! Xxxvb”
She also followed up with: “I was a pop star for the night!! I love u @MelanieCmusic, @OfficialMelB, @GeriHalliwell, @EmmaBunton!! We did it!! X vb”
Mel C also took to the micro-blogging site to say: “What an honour to represent our country and perform for all of the incredible Olympians. We salute you one and all #coloursoftheworld x x.”
Then she added: “Love @liamgallagher ‘come and ‘ave a go!”, in reference to her 1997 Brit Awards challenge to Gallagher “Come and ‘ave a go if you think you’re hard enough.” The comment came after Gallagher said, 15 years ago, that he’d ‘smack them’ if he ever bumped into the Spice Girls.
Photos of the girls posing with former Oasis and current Beady Eye frontmanLiam Gallagher also circulated, although Posh Spice was noticeably absent from the peace accord, which was photographed the morning after the ceremony. Posh was seen exiting after the ceremony ended, perhaps to get home to her family while the rest partied on through the night and morning.
