Europe's worst hooligans
Millwall and West Ham rivalry
From: London, England
The Carling Cup match between Millwall and West Ham had to be suspended after scores of supporters invaded the pitch at Upton Park.
Bricks and bottles were thrown at officials and police and one man was stabbed. 10 men were arrested as the bitter rivalry between the two teams erupted into a vicious scene of malice and violence. Scenes around the stadium were no better, as riot police had to try and control hundreds of angry fans outside the ground.
An eye witness said: "There were a lot of lunatics around. The thing is, between these two sets of fans, it's hatred. The teams haven't played each other for so long so I suppose it was always going to kick off."
