Great races and memories from Silverstone

From devastating crashes to glorious victories, the British Grand Prix is always stand-out.
And as the last ever event held at Silverstone gets underway, check out 10 of the best moments at the iconic track.
. The on-track invasion when a defrocked Irish priest, Neil Horan, ran down the Hangar Straight with cars flashing past him at 200mph in the 2003 race.
. Another invasion, but of a different kind, as thousands of fans cheered Nigel Mansell following his 1992 triumph.
. In 2008, on a wet track, Lewis Hamilton came from fourth on the grid, taking the lead on lap five from Heikki Kovalainen. And while chaos erupted behind him (Felipe Massa spun five times) Hamilton kept his head to win.
. In 1955 Stirling Moss made history, becoming the first British driver to win in the world championship in a British car on home soil.
. In 1982 only 10 of 26 cars finished the race with an early accident which knocked out Riccardo Patrese and Rene Arnoux. Nigel Mansell was forced to retire on lap 29 due to an injury. Niki Lauda claimed the win.
. In 1950, Alfa Romeo dominated the first ever World Championship Grand Prix. Ferrari did not enter because their cars were not ready.
. In 1973 Jody Scheckter spun at the end of the first lap and took eight cars with him. It was, at the time, the biggest multiple pile-up in F1 history.

In the 1963 GP, Jim Clark headed John Surtees and Graham Hill in an all-British one-two-three.
. In 1998 Michael Schumacher won the race in the pitlane, after crossing the finish line whilst serving a stop-go penalty. McLaren protested claiming that the penalty was taken on the warm down lap, but stewards let Michael keep his win.
. In 2003 Michael Schumacher pushed Fernando Alonso onto the grass at 320kph in an effort to keep him behind. It was the first of many battles between the two drivers.
