Rooney targets all-time goalscoring record
After annihilating Andorra 6-0 at Wembley, England's confidence for World Cup glory is at its peak.
With a two goals from Wayne Rooney and two from Jermaine Defoe- plus one a piece from Peter Crouch and Frank Lampard - England remain at the top of group six in the qualifiers with a undefeated claim to their name.
But Rooney's two goals proved to be more meaningful then the rest, taking him inches closer to a place on England's top 10 goalscorers list.
Rooney now claims 24 goals during his career with England, putting him alongside Geoff Hurst at No 12 in the all-time list.
But the Manchester United striker has already set his sights on passing Bobby Charlton's record of 49 goals for his country.
He said: "I hope I can beat it. Obviously it would be a great achievement, but I've always said I never based my game just on scoring goals. It's very much about getting on the ball and being involved".
England need four points from their last three group matches to ensure their place at the World Cup finals in South Africa 2010. The next game is against Croatia on September 9.
