Playing for Man City can be a pain in the neck
Goalkeeper Bert Trautmann was a German POW who remained in England following the war and played for Manchester City in the 1956 FA Cup final. During the game he was involved in a collision that broke one of the vertebrae in his neck. Unaware, Trautmann played the final 15 minutes of the game and didn't find out what was wrong until several days later.
