One of the most famous strike mistakes of them all came from Rosenthal, who had done well to go around the goalkeeper, composing himself to strike, but he shot against the middle of the cross-bar.  He said of the incident: "It seemed to be replayed on television every 10 minutes - it was hard to escape from it. Sometimes I can go for one whole week without having to talk about it."
