It is a game where many a racket has paid the price for their players' defeat, often finding itself smashed to bits after a furious rage…and star player Serena Williams is no exception.

However, after already being penalised for doing just that in the first set, Williams was subject of even more controversy as she verbally attacked a lineswoman in the semi-final match against Kim Clijsters at the 2009 US Open tournament

Williams launched a tirade of profanities at the lineswoman shaking a ball at the lines judge for calling her on a foot fault saying :

"I'm f****** going to take this f****** ball and shove it down your f****** throat, you hear that?"

Now that's not very sportsmanlike behaviour is it? Watch Williams' outburst below. But she's not the only sports person to blow their top…
