Sylvester Stallone was seen hiding his grief behind dark sunglasses when he attended the funeral of his son yesterday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
Stallone and his family gathered together in Los Angeles to bid their final goodbyes. The Rambo star was accompanied by his wife Jennifer Flavin and his brother Frank.
Sage, who was 36, died of a suspected overdose last July 13. As many as 50 empty bottles of pills were found near his body at his apartment located in Hollywood Hills, causing the police to rule out foul play or criminal activity. The body was found four days after the day of his death.
The younger Stallone was a film-maker and actor, like his dad, having appeared in Rocky V alongside his dad.
The young film producer’s lawyers, however, revealed that there had been “no indication that there was anything wrong in his life” and that Sage had been due to marry his long-term girlfriend just days before his death. This, plus the fact that no suicide note or evidence of drama has been found, led the police to treat the death as accidental.
Sylvester Stallone recently opened up about his son’s death, saying, “When a parent loses a child, there is no greater pain.” He implored the public to stop the speculations surrounding his son’s death so that their family may “have my son’s memory in full left in peace”.
