What is Supanet Line Rental?

Supanet Line Rental takes ownership of your telephone line from your current provider (usually BT). Although the line remains on the same network, Supanet is responsible for the service it provides, meaning you will no longer pay BT (or your current provider). Supanet Line Rental automatically includes a FREE Evening and Weekend Talk plan with the added option to add our Unlimited Anytime FREE calls plan. There are no changes to your phone number and you can view all your calls online using our free itemised billing service. It simply means you no longer pay BT or any other provider for your telephone line rental or calls.

You also save up to 15% with cheaper calls from Supanet on any chargeable landline calls over BT, Sky and TalkTalk1 call prices, and benefit from low cost mobile calls and International calls to over 350 landline and mobile destinations, worldwide.

What is Supanet Talk?

Supanet Talk allows you to make free calls with our Evening and Weekend or Unlimited Anytime FREE call plans. There are no changes to your phone number and you can view all your calls online using our free itemised billing service. It simply means you no longer pay BT or any other provider for expensive calls anymore, but you will still pay your current telephone provider for the line rental.

You also save up to 15% with cheaper calls from Supanet on any chargeable landline calls over BT, Sky and TalkTalk1 call prices, and benefit from low cost mobile calls and International calls to over 350 landline and mobile destinations, worldwide.

How does it work?

When you join Supanet Talk or Supanet Line Rental, your local telephone exchange is programmed to switch all your outgoing calls to the Supanet Talk network. We still use the same line and infrastructure which is supported by Openreach (the same people that manage all BT calls), but we can provide better pricing for this. You won't have to dial any special codes or plug a dialler box into your wall and you don't even change your phone number. You just pick up the phone and dial as normal.

We will instruct BT to switch you over as quickly as possible and we will send you an email confirming when this has taken place. You will also receive a letter from BT confirming the changes. In most cases, the whole process should take no more than 10 days from the date you requested Supanet Talk/Line Rental to the date you start making cheaper phone calls with Supanet Talk.

What is Talksafe?

Talksafe is a great new security feature that allows you to control your phone bills and is included FREE with both Supanet Talk and Supanet Line Rental. By setting a limit on daily and monthly call costs, TalkSafe allows you to keep your phone bills under control. Once your selected limit is reached, we will notify you by email and/or by text message to your mobile phone. You can select daily limits of up to £10 and monthly limits of up to £80. Typical usages are:

  • High: £45 per month
  • Medium: £15 per month
  • Low: £10 per month
Do I have to be a current Supanet customer?

No, you can still use our phone services even if you are with a different broadband provider (apart from cable/Virgin). We do however recommend you have a look at our broadband packages as the more services you have from us, the more money you can save2.

How do I sign up?

It's simple. Just click here, enter your details and we'll do the rest. Alternatively, call Supanet Talk sales line on 0800 915 8803. Lines are open 9am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. Calls to this number are free from a landline.

What happens once I have registered for Supanet Talk?

We will send you a welcome email with your order confirmation and Supanet account details. We will then send a second email within 10 working days to confirm we have informed your current telephone provider, transferred your line to Supanet and that the service is ready to use.

Do I have to inform my current telephone provider?

No we make all the changes for you. You will receive a letter from your current provider once the transfer to Supanet has been completed.

What are the peak, evening and weekend time bands?

Peak rates are: Monday to Friday 0600 to 1800. Off peak rates are: Monday to Thursday 1800 to 0600; Friday 1800 to midnight; Weekend: Midnight Friday to midnight Sunday.

How do I pay my bill?

A summary and fully itemised bill can be viewed each month online at www.showmybill.com. We will send you an email when this is ready to view; this is a free service. Your account is charged one month in arrears, however your first bill may contain up to 2 months calls from the date it is first used if ordered between the 17th and 27th of the month. If you have any queries about your account, please contact a member of the Supanet Billing Team on 0845 120 4473. Lines are open 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. Calls to this number are charged at the local rate.

Is there a minimum contract period?

Supanet Line Rental packages are bound by a 12 month rolling contract, as with most line rental providers. This is made clear in the product package details. Where applicable each product has its own MTerms and Conditions. If ordering online you will be asked to agree to the Terms and Conditions throughout the signup process. If you are ordering with a sales agent on the phone, you can read the Terms and Conditions here. In both circumstances you will immediately receive a copy of any applicable Terms and Conditions within your order confirmation email.

Can I change my mind once I have signed up?

If, for any reason, you change your mind, you can cancel the Supanet Talk service at any time. For cancellations outside the 10-day cooling-off period, we require 30 days notice. In all cases you will still need to pay for any call charges incurred, see our Terms and Conditions. Supanet Line Rental is bound by a 12 month rolling contract.

Who is Supanet Talk and Line Rental available to?

Supanet Talk is available to all homes that have a BT connection. This does not mean you need to presently be with BT, just that there is a BT line into your home. If you require a BT line fitting please contact our sales team on 0800 915 8803 today to discuss. We cannot supply Supanet Line Rental or Talk through your cable connection, e.g. Virgin.

Do I need to use a special phone?

No, you simply use the same phone that you have now.

Can Supanet Talk be used from the Channel Islands or Isle of Man?

Unfortunately not, our telephone line rental service is only available for the UK mainland.

I'm registered for the BT Light User line rental discount plan. Can I use Supanet Talk?

No. You must be on a full-price line rental plan, such as BT Together. You will need to contact BT to see if you are in contract with them and how to cancel this2

I have a BT line but I currently use a dialler or smart box to route my calls. Can I use Supanet Talk?

Yes. Registering for Supanet Talk will override any existing agreements you may have. However, you should remove the dialler when you start to use the service. Please note that Supanet can not be held liable for any costs you may incur in cancelling services with other suppliers, or for calls made if you fail to remove the dialler.

Can I use a mobile phone to access the service?

No. Supanet Line Rental and calls are only available on fixed-landline telephones at the moment. (You can phone and receive calls from mobiles).

Who do I phone if I have a problem?

In the rare event you have a problem with a telephone line, simply phone or email us, you can find our contact details are here. Dependant on the technical problem we will either fix the problem there and then or if required will arrange for an Openreach engineer to visit the exchange.

Is registration secure?

Yes. We use the industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to keep the registration data secure during transmission to us. This encrypts the data into a code that other people cannot read. Your card details are stored securely in line with current banking industry guidelines.
